We begin at the airport in Shannon, where we will pick you up in our private minivan. We'll drive north to the small town of Westport in County Mayo in western Ireland. Many feel County Mayo is the last bastion of old Ireland, where traditional culture still thrives. By using Westport as our base, we will be able to travel south to the Connemara and north to Achill Island. Our days will be spent in photographing only one or two locations instead of frenetically moving from place to place; our evenings, discussing photography and enjoying the traditional Irish pubs.
From Westport We'll begin moving south. At Ennis We'll have the opportunity to see Ireland at the crossroads: here is where tradition meets an entire city wired for the internet! From Ennis We'll be able to visit the famous Cliffs of Moher and several historic ruins. Moving south and west, We'll go to the Dingle Penninsula and the Ring of Kerry. This landscape is quintessential Ireland; many of the signs are in Gaelic, many of the towns still look like movie sets. Prime locations include tiny villages, ancient abbeys and burial grounds, druid woods, and castle ruins. Fishermen, farmers, merchants, and musicians still ply their ancient trade. This page requires frames for proper display.
