This four-day expedition is a trip into the historic past of the Old West. Silver City dates from the Spanish; however, its real heyday was during the mining operations of the 19th century. The remains of these two periods offer countless photographic opportunities. We will lead you to historic sites in and around Silver City, such as old town Silver City, Fort Bayard, the City of Rocks State Park, and the old mining town of Pinos Altos.
Although we will focus on historic details in architecture, there will be plenty of opportunities to make images of general landscape and distinctive rock landforms of the area as we try to capture the spirit of the Old West.
This four-day photographic workshop includes the old town of Concho and its historic cemeteries, Fort Apache, the state historic site of Sipes Ranch, Victorian houses in the small town of Snowflake, and the beautiful White Mountain landscape.
The Ponderosa forests of the White Mountains are situated approximately 170 miles northeast of Phoenix near the New Mexico border. They were first settled in 1873 but have been rediscovered in the last 20 years. The distinctive beauty of the area has made it a mecca for camping and outdoor recreation.
